Why is my skin dry in Winter?
Quite simply, cold air holds less moisture. When the environment around you is drier, your skin gets drier, too. And outdoor elements aren't the only factor — the heaters we turn on when the temperature drops can dry out the indoor air too. The result is dry skin that can range from scratchy and annoying to itchy and uncomfortable.
Less Sun Exposure: Sun exposure stimulates the production of vitamin D, which is important for skin health. In winter, people tend to spend more time indoors, leading to potentially lower levels of vitamin D and impacting skin health.
Wind: Winter winds can further dry out your skin by stripping away the thin layer of oil that traps moisture in the skin.
Hot Showers and Baths: While they may feel comforting, hot showers and baths can actually contribute to dry skin by removing the natural oils from your skin's surface.
What can you do to combat this problem?
Luckily there are MANY things you can do to help your skin:
Hydrate: Drinking water has numerous benefits. Water is crucial for many bodily functions, such as lubricating the joints, delivering oxygen throughout the body, preventing kidney damage, and more. Around 60 percent of the body is made up of water. The average water intake for an adult to be well hydrated is 2.7L to 3.7L.
Water is essential to your survival. In your body, water works by:
Regulating your body temperature
Moistening your eyes, nose, and mouth tissues
Protecting your organs and tissues
Bringing nutrients and oxygen to your cells
Lubricating joints
Flushing out waste products
Dissolving minerals and other nutrients for your body to use.
Water can also be found in food:
Cucumber

Water makes up over 95% of raw lettuce. In addition to helping you stay hydrated, lettuce helps with bone strength, vision, and sleep.Watermelon (however not really the season)
This juicy fruit gets its name from containing 92% of water serving as a great snack for staying hydrated. Watermelon is also power packed with beneficial nutrients and is a great source of antioxidants.Peaches
